2nd Annual Ella/Posie Handmade Holiday Bazaar

This bazaar is two days this year with 20 different artists participating each day. Click on the postcard to see everyone involved. I will be there on Sunday with my hats and scarves, sharing a bed (the bazaar is in a furniture store!) with The Organized Knitter. Stop by and say hello if you are around.

Other knit news: I finished the fronts of the Ribby Cardi the other day and started the sleeves. I need to do some blocking tonight!

Sunday Fun

Thanks to Carolyn, Mariko, and Melanie for a great time at Pix Patisserie, where we had Sunday brunch! It was absolutely delicious. Axis Supper Club does the brunch at Pix and you can see our menu here. I had the cream pancakes with pear syrup and bacon. Yum.

Tag, You're It

I spent all day Friday steam blocking all my hats and scarves. I was able to escape with only a tiny burn on one finger. After that was finished, I cut all my tags out, punched holes in them and threaded them with some elastic thread. I wrote prices on the tags and attached them to all the hats. I'm still debating what to price the scarves at, so that's all that needs to be done. I've also managed to work a little on both fronts for the Ribby Cardi. I'm just about at the halfway point.

Homestretch

Here are the latest two scarves I finished up this weekend. I also worked on the Ribby Cardi for a little bit and am almost done with the back. I have 12 scarves and just need to make three or four more. I have sewn labels onto everything and just need to steam block it all and attach the tags.

On Saturday, Mariko took me to RCT Fabrics, which I had never been to before. It was an amazing place, full of outerwear and activewear type fabrics. It would be so much cheaper to make all that kind of stuff than buy it. I restrained myself and purchased no fabric, but bought some zippers to test out with the Ribby Cardi. We also checked out a holiday bazaar and saw some really cute stuff. There are bazaars going on almost every weekend!

What Knitting?

Knitting is on the back burner momentarily while I try to situate this in some pleasing arrangement!

Let's Get It Started

Over the weekend I started the Ribby Cardi. I have grown to like the dusty teal color and its brightness factor is not so overwhelming. Regarding my bazaar knitting, I have 25 big hats, 10 little hats and 10 scarves. I would like to have 15 scarves total, so I need to knit those up. I also sewed labels onto all the hats. Once I sew them onto the scarves, I will need to block everything and add the tags.

PS India left a comment regarding the cable scarf pattern. I don't have time to post it now, but will try to after the bazaar is over.

So Cute

Here are the baby Ugg booties. I think they turned out so cute. Each bootie was knit in one piece and was very simple. Sewing on the fleecey details is what took the longest amount of time. I really liked knitting with the Berroco Suede too. It creates a great fabric. I was supposed to use the Berroco Plush for the furry detailing, but the LYS didn't have it in white, so I got some yarn called Fleece from Knit One Crochet Too that is super soft and worked out just fine.

Uggies for Baby

DIY TV's Knitty Gritty featured this very clever pattern for Ugg bootees for babies. Aren't they hilarious? I hate Ugg boots, but I'm making some of these! [via Craftster]

Bootee Call

I worked on finishing up the bootees and hat this weekend. I love how the cables look! I started the hat on Friday night, but ran out of Nature Spun and had to buy one more skein yesterday. So, it only took a bit over a skein to make the hat and the bootees. I also got my Elann order on Friday. The dusty teal was more like a bright blue, but I still like the color combination. I'll probably start swatching for the Ribby Cardi this week, between hats and scarves.

Stitch n' Bitch

"I'm sure there are dozens of cross-stitch software programs out there but I just did a quick search for one that runs on Mac OSX and I found this company called Ursa Software who makes three different programs: X-Stitch Studio, Mac Stitch, and Stitch Simplicity. So amazing!" [via craftster.org blog]

Next, Please

After Mariko told me about the ultra cheap Peruvian Collection Highland Wool currently at Elann, I decided I had to make a purchase. I have committed to my next project, Bonne Marie's Ribby Cardi. There are lots and lots of colors to choose from and I finally decided on the dusty teal and mocha heather. This will be my first cardigan project. I hope my yarn arrives today!

Shake Your Bootee

This weekend, I eased up on my hat and scarf production to start in on some cabled baby bootees and a matching hat for a friend's baby shower in a few weeks. So far, they look really cute. It must be those baby cables! I'll post photos soon...
