Weekend Project

Woven Scarf Pattern
Yarn: Rowan Kid Soft in Storm (#754) 2 skeins x 50 grams and Gedifra Tecno Hair in Grey (#9616) 1 x 50 grams

Needles: 1 pair US #15 needles (10 mm) and crochet hook, size I

Tension: 10 stitches and 12 rows to four inches measured over pattern stitch using US #15 needles and a double strand of Rowan Kid Soft.

Scarf: Using a double strand of Kid Soft, cast on 15 stitches. Purl one WS row. Continue in woven stitch as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K1, *yf, sl1, yb, K1; rep from * to end.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K2, *yf, sl1, yb, K1; rep from * to last st, K1.
Row 4: Purl.
Repeat these 4 rows until yarn is almost used up, ending with Row 4 and then binding off and weaving in ends. Block scarf by gently pressing using a warm iron over a damp cloth.

Furry Border: Using the Gedifra Tecno Hair and crochet hook, single crochet through each stitch along the border of the scarf, along all sides, twice. If you want a fluffier edge, crochet around border for a third time. Weave in ends.

Hooray!

Yesterday evening my neighbor rang my doorbell and handed me a package. He was outside when the UPS guy came and signed for my package. Yay! It was the Via Mala I had been waiting for. I had just called Amazing Threads earlier that day too, and originally, the woman said the order had never been placed. I almost freaked. Then she realized that, in actuality, it had already been placed and sent out. I finished both sleeves last night and they're blocking now. I also started the turtleneck and am about halfway through that. I think the sleeves will be ready to sew on tomorrow and I can wear my new sweater to Thanksgiving dinner later that afternoon! I'll post pictures next week. Have a good holiday everyone.

No Projects??!!

I currently have no projects on my needles. What's up with that? I guess I could work on the pillow or socks that will probably be UFOs forever, but I don't really want to. I have a sweater I've sketched out, but need to wait to buy more of the yarn I need. It's the end of the month and funds are low. I'm also just waiting around for that Via Mala so I can complete the Rebecca sweater. It's just screaming out to be finished!

Winter Hat Collection

Here's a picture of the hats I've been working on the last couple of weeks. Those are two Bucket-O-Chic hats using Bonne Marie's pattern and the other hat is Madge from Rowan's Bigger Picture. I also knit a navy blue bucket hat, but gave it away before I could snap a photo.

Where's My Yarn?

Darn it all, still haven't received my Via Mala yet. I probably won't get it until next week. I'm still working on bucket hats galore.

Buckets of Fun

I am working on my second Bucket-O-Chic hat. My first one was lime green with a turquoise brim. The second one is grey. I'll post pictures later. I also practically finished the sleeves for the sweater, but then ran out of yarn! I nearly panicked when I went to my LYS and they didn't have any of the grey Via Mala in stock. I went online, surfed for about an hour and couldn't find a store that sold it either. I got back on again a little while later to continue searching and finally found it at Amazing Threads. I hope I get the yarn this week. The sweater looks great so far and I'm anxious to wear it already.

A Knitting Weekend

A storm is supposed to come in this weekend and I plan to get lots of quality knitting time in. I should be able to finish and block the sleeves for the mottled tweed sweater. I also want to work on finishing the main body of the bucket hat. I wish I had another three-day weekend in store. Well, at least a holiday comes again in a couple of weeks!

Bummer

Last week, I thought something weird was going on with the Knitbloggers' Ring. Well, it turns out that the firewall at work isn't letting me get to the ring at all. That sucks.

Finished the front of the sweater. I blocked it this morning before leaving for work. I started both sleeves during my lunch hour. I think this could be done early next week! I hope I don't run out of yarn.

Bucket-O-Fun

I just got my Bucket-O-Chic hat pattern from Bonne Marie. This hat is exactly what I've been wanting. Yay!

Progress

I've finished the back of the turtleneck sweater, which is blocking now. I'm about halfway through the front. I hope can start the sleeves this weekend and do them both at the same time. This project had been fun so far. I like the pattern of ribbing, then stockinette stitch.

New Project

Here's my latest project. On Monday night, I frogged a previous Rebecca turtleneck that I made because I didn't like the fit. So now I have a whole sweater's worth of GGH Via Mala to make pattern number 23, Mottled Tweed Sweater. I'm using grey and ecru combined. I like the patterning of this sweater with the ribs.

Neato!

I went to the LYS yesterday afternoon just to check out some yarns and, as usual, came away with several skeins of Rowan Big Wool in numerous colors. I also bought the new Rowan pattern book Bigger Picture, which features designs made with Big Wool and Biggy Print. I absolutely fell in love with the Big Wool. It knits up into this gorgeous chunky fabric. I really dig the look you get with this hat being knit sideways. It was so fun to knit that I also started a pair of mittens and am in the process of finishing up the second one. It's so great to be able to finish up a project in an hour. What gratification! I see about four or five other patterns I would love to make.
